Halal Michelin-Starred Restaurants in London

Just so you know, London hosts a number of restaurants. Among them, there are fancy ones whose outstanding food quality, service and overall dining experience earned them a Michelin star. In turn, these restaurants became popular and highly regarded.

According to the latest Michelin London Guide, some of the Michelin-starred restaurants that serve halal foods are familiar Indian restaurants like Tamarind, Quilon, Gymkhana, and Benares, which regained their Michelin stars a few years ago, thanks to Executive Chef Sameer Taneja. Also, a Chinese restaurant called Kai, on South Audley Street in Mayfair, is part of the halal Michelin-starred restaurants in London.

Tamarind

Tamarind uses ingredients of good quality to make halal Indian foods that taste great and look good, and they are the first Indian restaurant in London to earn a Michelin star. What makes them stand out among other Indian restaurants is that they always try new flavors and cooking styles to make new and enticing dishes, making them a respected eatery among other restaurants in the United Kingdom.

You can locate Tamarind on Queen Street in Mayfair. It is in a two-storey building with elegant interior decoration and a serene outdoor space. The dining room on the ground floor is spacious and has an open kitchen where you can watch the chef do their job, while the private dining room on the top floor offers a nice view of Queen Street and their tranquil, well-maintained garden.

Benares Restaurant and Bar

We recommend Benares Restaurant and Bar in Mayfair for those who want to have a taste of real Indian food in a fancy ambience. This restaurant received its Michelin star not too long ago, offering a mix of traditional Indian recipes with a touch of modernity. Just like Tamarind, they source new ingredients, a new cooking style, and a new food presentation to craft creative dishes while keeping the authentic flavor of Indian cuisine intact, led by executive chef, Sameer Taneja.

Quilon

Quilon is another Indian restaurant in London that has earned  Michelin star status since 2008 for serving fine Indian dishes and offering excellent service. Through their creativity in cooking, taste and presentation of foods, they have retained the honor till date. What sets them apart among the Michelin-starred Indian restaurants is that most of their dishes are made with seafood. Therefore, lovers of seafood or fish can enjoy a variety of South West coastal Indian food at Quilon on Buckingham Gate in Westminster

While Quilon serves mainly seafood, they also offer halal meat and vegetable dishes on their menu. If you are a muslim or eat halal foods, it is ideal not to eat their game dishes like the Manglorean chicken (kori gassi) and Chicken pepper masala. These dishes are not considered an halal meat because they are mostly hunted instead of being slaughtered according to Islamic principles.

Gymkhana is a two-star Michelin star restaurant, which means their cooking is so excellent that it is worth a detour. Aside from Gymkhana’s delicious food, the restaurants and bar’s interior decoration makes it a perfect spot to go on a date with your better half or to hang out with friends or family, as the interior looks simple yet classy. The ground floor looks elegant with jade green colors, dark polished wood, and beautiful fabrics, while the lower ground floor has vibrant peach and Kashmiri chili red.
